First picture is because his wings are lower on his back. If you watch the frame before it, it shows his wings folded behind his back. The second picture has wings, too. The third is possibly like the first.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the black outline of the corrupted ponies with the color on their eyes (or trail in RD's case) with a direct look into the eyes of mr. psycho-eyes himself!

I feel like with all of the other ponies, he's been building up to his trump card, which is corrupting Twilight, the final element. I like your take on it, too. It shows how all of their elements have faults, and how each one of them has a weakness.

It's too bad the writers are likely gonna skip Twilight being corrupted and go right to her saving the others, rather than have a heart warming scene of Spike or Luna proving their worth by pulling Twilight of the darkness.
