And this form would likely be the GT counterpart to Golden Frieza.

It's because it's an entirely different form of Frieza, just like how SSJ4 is different from the previous SSJ transformations.

Because Golden Frieza just looked like a recolour of Frieza with gold and purple just like how SSJ Blue is a recolour of Super Saiyan.

Well at least Golden Frieza has more effort put into it's destine than Super Saiyan Blue. For example. The shoulders, leg gem things, arm gem things. And his forehead almost looks like Cooler's base form forehead.
