Description Hey guys!
Thought I could maybe show you the process of one of my latest pics
You can also check out the speed paint video here:www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAUrEn…
And before you ask, I use Photoshop CS6 to draw, just to keep that in mind while reading the next part.

Step 1: Sketch
When drawing more than one character I prefer to draw each one on a separate layer with a different color. That way I can change them freely without affecting the other. Take Dekus hand for example, this way I could redraw them countless times without affecting Todorokis hair. (Also I like drawing them in a color than fits them somehow)

Step 2: Lines
Basically, drawing clean lines on a new layer. In this process it's still possible to change things, like how I moved both boys closer to each other and and made the whole drawing bigger. I also recommend to not draw the lines in complete black, I prefer some brown or dark red color so the lines don`t stand out that much (except if that's exactly what you're aiming for, cuz then go for it!)
For me, this step takes me the longest, since I suck at drawing clean lines.

Step 3: Basic Coloring
You heard me. Now go out and fill those spaces with color, just like they teached you in kindergarten. I'd love to be able to tell you something about color theory and stuff, but It's really hard to explain.

Step 4: Shading, Tones and Background
For shading I like taking a dark color (black, really dark red or violet) and then draw those complicated shadows in a new layer. Then you can play with the opacity, depending on the lightning you want in the drawing.
For the tones(like the blush of Deku or the texture of Todorokis scar) I usually take a soft brush and play around with the opacities.
I prefer to keep my backgrounds simple, in this case i wanted a sunset where the sun isn't visible, so i simply colored the clouds from pink to orange and added a strong light on the underside to indicate the main lightening source.

Step 5: Extra shading
This step can be done before the last one, in my case I did it this first.
Since the lightning here comes from behind i used the same method like in the last step to create a shadow that indicates the main lightning source (in this case from behind). The bright parts around the shadow are simply the parts where i left the shadow out. Please keep in mind that the darker the shadow, the stronger the lighting source and the more dramatic the final picture will look like.

Step 6: Effects and lightning
This part is kinda hard to explain, here's where the experimenting part starts. Different kind of effects can be used like contrast, color balance, saturation, gradients, etc.
In this part I also added some lightning over the shadow (like you can see at the top of Todorokis head) For this I simply played around with a big brush with soft edges, a very light color and with very little opacity.
Also, don't forget the light in the eyes, it's what gives lives to the characters!

Well, this was really hard to explain, I hoped it helped ya, I really recommend you to take a look at the speed paint vid, since there you can actually see what I'm doing!

Hope you like it and feel free to leave a comment!^^
