Description
Silvery-cheeked Hornbills are are distributed predominately across Eastern and Southern Africa, and prefer forested environments. Like most African hornbills, they feature a prominent black, grey, and white colour variety, but also maintain a partial splash of colour near the eye and beak regions (in females). A close relative, the black-and-white-casqued Hornbill, can be mistaken for the Silvery-cheeked Hornbill, though they are distinguished by their slightly duller grey cheek feathers, and, depending on the individual, a stark white patch on the relatively dark casque. Not to mention the significant amount of white present near the rump, tail tips, and primaries.
