Description
Entry for Eb Hunting Riderless Competition
Name: Lucien
Id: E-056
Age: Immortal
Gender: Stallion
Story:
Lucien has returned to Iron Horse Stables a week prior to the competition; He arrived with Maledict, his blind companion. Maledict had been injured and needed urgent care, and since Lucien was always welcome at IHS, he was accepted immediately. About a week into their stay, IHS was invited to go into a riderless Hunting competition. What horse could be better than an immortal nomadic wanderer that hunts for himself daily?
Lucien had no objections; one gets bored easily when you have lived over 700 years.
--
Lucien stalked through the brush of the forest, his hooves eerily silent on the leafy bed. He smelled something on the wind-- a pungent, musky smell. Boar. He crept closer, willing his old bones not to crack and his joints not to creak. Dawn was just peaking over the mountains; a mist was filling the forest. As he crept into a small clearing surrounded by red-brown trees, he saw his prey. A massive boar was rooting at the stump of a tree for mushrooms. Suddenly, the wind turned and the beast winded him. It wheeled on its heels, snout low as Lucien came into his view.
The two circled each other for what seemed like ages. With a loud squeal and flying hooves, the large boar tore towards Lucien. Its mouth gaped open, revealing his own savage teeth. Its eyes were wild and hungry for blood. The stallion reared up, calculating the distance.
20 feet.
10 feet.
5!
Down came Lucien's hooves on the skull of the beast. A loud crack emanated from thee head and the boar screamed. Lucien's maw bore down on the boar's neck, long fangs sinking in to flesh, wrenching the throat savagely. Another crack of bone and all was done. Dropping his kill, Lucien lifted his eyes to the heavens, thanking the Highlords for allowing him a victory before he ripped into his meal, being sure to save some for Maledict.
