~ I add simplicity to my OCs ~I know, most of you try to make a great OC, RPC, Fursona or whatever. And I'm not against this, I'm also someone who draws many things like this.
But I'm trying to add some simplicity. Why?? Because I did a pic of an OC a while ago and forgot so many things. So I decided to make the design simplier. For me and also for the others.
I also think that a simple outfit for... (let's take a ninja
) a ninja is more similiar to the outfits in the Anime. I'm not sure with this, so please tell me if I'm wrong.And here is the biggest question for you:
Can you draw your OC without looking at another pic ???
I can't. That's why I do all simplier.
If you can, you can be sure you're an amazing artist. Really.

I like simplicity! Every so often I'll add some kind of crazy design or something but aside from that, it's easier for me to draw a simpler character!
I CAN draw my characters without looking at another pic, the only thing I still need to do is check to see if the colors are right XD even on simple ones.

I prefer simplicity as well. Yet I keep tormenting myself by creating characters belonging to species that tend to be heavily marked. For instance, snakes with spots, or a tricolor calico cat. Makes me all the more relieved when I go to work on art for my black horse character, though. The nice thing about Thoroughbreds is that they're almost always solid in color.

While I draw my characters with skin and hair colors not found in nature, I DO give them relatively ordinary, easy to draw, outfits (most of them just wear a T-shirt, pants, and shoes).

When I see a character with stripes and plaid and two colored eyes and cat ears and pink hair and green hair and blue hair I can't help but see it as OC abuse

My main OC is just about the most simple thing around. xD
But I love her, because I can draw her at whim, even if I don't have a reference picture at the time, and I have just grown attached to her design nevertheless.
I always feel like I should be making her more complex, but now I'm very glad to see there are people out there who like the simpler designs~ ^^

I could draw the outfits of 4 of my OC's out of my memory: Elocar (haha, nothing more than trousers :iconimhappypplz:), Belial, Desiree and (probably?) Ikaran. as for all my other OC's, no matter how many years I have them, I still haven't thought of anything good for them to wear >.>
So my bloodthirsty creatures might wear T-shirts and jeans/skirts...

Sina: Didn't he kill your parents, Ikaran?
Garcia: nah, nah, don't confuse that. I was about to kill them but he killed them himself. Okay, maybe not exactly himself but Raré.
Sina: How? Wasn't he dead by that time?
Ikaran: Yes but he took control over my body and became a voice in my head instead of dying like a normal shadow that was stabbed with a sword made out of dried Lighter's blood.
Sina: What? How did they get THAT?
Ikaran: Oh, he was just about to kill everything and anything that still existed, I guess they found some volunteers.
Sina: But.. Nowadays it seems Raré and you are friends?!
Ikaran: Yeah, you could say he changed a bit.
Garcia: And that's TOO bad! I'd love to kill with him but NO, he just HAS to pretend he's sorry for what he's done. And now let me kill 'ya.
Réro: No, I don't think so!
Sina: Ah, hey Réro! ^^
Ikaran: You know him?
Sina: He's Raré's big brother and the complete opposite of his brother.
Garcia: That's why these two are called "brothers Yin & Yang"
Ikaran: I knew that! I've met him once before when Raré was half-dead because he lifted a curse from-
Garcia: OH PLEASE! Could we just stop and kill each other? I doubt it will be a clean fight and I want to get my new skirt clean

I once tried designing a sparkledog for giggles, I actually got bored halfway through coloring the thing, it got so complicated.

I'm not gonna lie. I keep my character simple because I dislike overly detailed characters. They give an impression that all you can do to make a character look original is to add more stuff.

Yeah... I try to do this too. I think I did good on my actual fursona, but as for the rest of my characters... Well, some are fine. Actually, most are. I only add a few markings and stuff. But one character might need to be simplified a bit... Anyway, nice stamp!

That is true! Lots of poular characters, like Link from Legend of Zelda and Yuna from Final Fantasy X are very creative, but simple.

simplicity is good, as long as the art style is unique enough to make the oc look like a real person who is simple, not a character who is just too bland.
example, the generic anime girl with long brown hair and a fluffy white dress. looks REALLY bad, right?
but some cartoon girls with long brown hair and a fluffy white dress - can look really unique.
if you don't believe me i'll draw up a drawing to prove it XD /shot/
jk, but no really, i still think that a simple character has to go hand in hand with a good art style to look good.
