I am looking for some feedback on this one. Does it need something more? Less? Anything technical that I could improve upon?

I think this is an excellent photomanipulation--your choice of stock and how you've composed the elements in the scene is very well done. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/> I enjoy all the little details (like the rich men in the background, the dragon flying overhead, and the lantern hanging on the wall of the building) and what I really love is that it tells a story e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

The only suggestion I can offer is that the purse of gold coins stands out a bit...the red and gold is very saturated compared to the rest of the scene and becomes a kind of focal point. If that's what you wanted, then great e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/> but I think you wanted the focus to be on the lady and the woman in the purple cloak. I think if you put a shadow beneath the purse of gold and brought down the saturation if it a bit, it would look perfect. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

You did a great job, keep up the good work! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap"/> e.deviantart.net/emoticons/p/p… " width="15" height="16" alt="" title="+fav"/>

Thanks for taking time out to give this a critique. It is so appreciated! I will try your suggestion b/c I did indeed mean for the lady and woman in cloak to be the focal point.

I've been looking through your gallery and I have to say your creativity is awesome. You've mastered the merging of stock and placement of your subjects and elements. Your shadow work is good, the only critique I have is you need to have a little more contrasts in your layout. Use lighting to develop light and dark areas. Using your dodge and burn tool to highlight your lights and dark areas will give your layouts an extra pop also.

I looked your program up on the web and saw that it has all the tools you need to work on the above items. I've also attached a couple of tutorials that I found very helpful to me. I'm just learning about the lighting and dodge/burn tools myself.....hope this helps.....Again keep creating, love what I'm seeing.

I hope you don't mind I used the dodge and burn tools as well as some gradients for lighting to show you what I mean by more contrast....the tutorials above cover those skills....have fun....

It's a nice idea.
I would give you the tip to blend it more. Because it's now looking like pasted pieces .
So give it a good blend so it looks like one piece .

Keep practice ^^

Okay, truth is, I don't have a clue when it comes to blending so any specific advice you can give would be awesome. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip! I am using Serif PhotoPlus X5 and am still learning methods for blending. I will work on it some more and repost.

Hard to explain, because i use another program. The best you can do is follow some tutorials about blending. I guess you can find a bunch.
And of course always look to other artist, you can also learn much from that .
If you have any more questions . I'm curious to the repost .

You're very welcome ^^

I've updated by adding a few more elements. Also adjusted saturation and color balance in an attempt to make those elements blend together more as one piece. Oh, and I replaced the missing hoof.

wales48 In reply to faryewing [2012-03-11 01:03:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that's much better .
Now you created more depth, so it also doesn't look like that the world is flat .
Love the dragon in de sky, and the colours are much better ^^.

One little tip you can use for the next times .
I always do, when i have a picture, with sharp edges, i will do it a little with the fade tool. Just the sharp edges . The fade tool is the drop on Gimp, i don't know the tool in your program.

But this is really better . And a big step forward ^^.
If you have more questions etc.. or on any other pieces, you can ask ^^.

Very welcome for the feedback . My pleasure.
