So It's done... Took me what seemed like forever. This is a picture of Meg Ryan for my wife and best friend, Lisa... I thought it was about time I did something she would like. She is the only one who loves me enough to put up with me. It's not easy at times.One of her favourite Meg movies is "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994) The tagline for that film was "Through the good times. Through the bad times. When a Man Loves a Woman it's for all times". Cheesy but true in my case.
So I used the usual implements, HB, 2B, 3B, 4B, and 5B pencils. It's 10.75 inches wide X 7.25 tall on 110 lb paper. I used toilet paper and paper stumps to blend and lots of erasers for the hair... You can refer to my last submission to see it as a work in progress and in my scraps to see it at 50%.
If you are wondering about her left eye... She has a problem with it that she tries to hide. I thought about fixing it, but in the end went with what was in the photo.
As some of you know it's my last celeb for a while. I plan on doing my own work next.
In the past I have added song lyrics to help you understand the meaning or how I felt about the subject. This time I have used an old poem I wrote that I think fits...

wow the hair and eyes look so crisp. Cause a lot of times in realistic drawings everythings seems to look like the same texture. But the hair looks like hair! how do u do it?

Hey man. I am working on a drawing right now where there is a lot of blonde hair. I am using an eraser and i understand the general technique, but i am just wondering if there is a special eraser or technique tht i dunno about or what haha. Just makin sure

I do the same thing... I cut the eraser with a blade. I make one pass with it then clean it off on a rag and then do it again. I just keep repeating the same steps till I get it the way I want. It's not easy... I was never happy with the hair on "Her Meg" this pic. I alway thought it looked like straw. I think its better to draw in the highlights while you are doing the hair then only use the eraser to blend the lines and help soften the pencil marks. I wish I had a trick that would help you... sorry.
On another note I was thinking I would try drawing your picture that you posted in your scraps if you were still interested. I have a creative block right now and I just can't seem to get motavated. So if your still interested I would like to try... I can't promise anything but I am sure I might get to it one day. If you like, send a larger pic to my hotmail and I will print it off and ponder getting started over the next few weeks. Just don't be upset if I can't get to it.

hahahaha ok. which pic are you talking about? chances are that unless it's a brand new one i won't have a larger image of it (because about a week ago a bookend fell on my laptop and smashed my harddrive!).
as for hair....yea i figured it was all about patience and the sort, but iwas kinda hopin there would be a secret hahaha.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. With jessica~vitality here it has been hectic. Oh yeah I have a live in GF and BF who are also together now. look up polyfidelity if your confused, or polyamory, but thats not quite me. I just can't seen to get back into it. I have been trying to get it together and draw Jessica, but things just aren't clicking at all. I have done a couple of comissions but they sucked ass. Something that was half at least of my usual standards and the people were pissing themselves over it. I was so nervous and they were like "OMG we love it" it was babies, so yeah.... I get that.
I just feel like beating something or acting like some stupid character in a guy ritchie film when I think of making art. Like bullet tooth tony dragging some guy down the raod with his head rolled up in the window. But really it would make me feel bad if I did something like that.
