More fakemon concept work. This little guy couldn’t fit into the Eyrenak region either but thought I’d share some rough doodles anyway!Shy-Aye. The Shy Fakemon. Fairy//Dark type. Abilities: Miniscule*//Super Luck.
>>Based on: Aye-Ayes, nocturnal lemurs generally, ninjas. The typing comes from the fact that they are practically pitch black and masters of living in the shadows out of sight, etc. They are incredibly shy and rarely seen, and many native people believe them to be either a bad omen (dark type) or a good luck blessing (fairy type) depending on which area of their native region you’re in. This falls in line with the general belief held by people regarding Aye-ayes, with some seeing them as a harbringer of death and doom(!).

hmm hmm hmm. I like this guy a lot. A lot. BUT I feel he's pretty plain, and I understand that's part of his overall design, but I just feel like something is missing. Not even necessarily design wise, like more stripes or colors or something, but just...something more. Maybe like scarves or something, you know how ninjas always have those ragged scarves and stuff hanging around the neck or waist, Idk, maybe something more like that, just to add a bit more development to the design. Also with the ears it definitely gives me a cat vibe, that's what I thought it was at first until I read the name.
That all being said I love the design, love the eyes, LOVE the concept, I like his claws a lot, I like the name. Overall it's definitely a really great solid design.

Just designed him so who knows, maybe I’ll add a blue stripe or two to his tail or something? The joy of concept sketches - can always be changed haha. But you’re right that I wanted him as plain as possible - the idea is that he’s so pitch black he’s almost like a living shadow when you come across him

Which totally makes sense, and it definitely has that early gen vibe, like maybe gen 2 vibe, so I get that simplicity in its design, it works nicely.
