Background

Kalua comes from the av-toran society hidden in Karda Nui; she grew up in a monastery known as The Refuge of Light: Av-Matoran who sought a higher calling- wishing to study the Great Spirit Mata Nui and share their teachings to beyond Karda Nui's barrier. A priestess in her own right, Kalua made a name for herself venturing into unknown territory and performing rituals to cleanse the creatures of shadow spreading chaos in Makuta's name within the darkest parts of Karda Nui. While mostly sheltered, she dreams of being able to venture out and explore all that the Great Spirit has to offer; carving her own destiny in the ways of the heroes long before her. She's also a loyal fan of Toa Krohno; reading about many of his great feats before his disappearance in the Avalanche Incident. She encounters the Heva in exploration on the outskirts of Karda Nui in search of a priest who'd gone missing. After finding the lost individual; Kalua hit it off well with the then-nomadic group of heroes after introdicuing them to the monastery and its friendly inhabitants. Despite her devotion to the monastery- her brothers and sisters encouraged her to pursue life outside the walls of her home. She seemed unsure of it, but was nonetheless convinced after having some time to think it over on her own. The fact that Krohno was also part of the team further motivated her to disembark with them. To her: it was now or never.

Personality

While initially quiet, it isn't out of reservation or secrecy but rather, her bashfulness with many who live outside the monastery. Baring imposing height and mighty musculature often attracts attention to the introvert; but when the moment calls for it she will spring into action and demonstrate her raw strength. A sweetheart by nature: her unfettering faith that the light shall overcome the darkness makes her strong; becoming more impossible to defeat to the weary foe. Sometimes this results in her becoming blind to the basic truth- making her ignorant to the reality of heated situations. Most often then not, others would have to start a conversation out of her- if only because she is far too shy to start one on her own. She holds high respect for any toa she runs into along the way; which strengthens her resolve in fighting to keep the Great Spirit in the light. She chooses to keep her beliefs to herself- choosing to talk about it only if the subject were brought up. She loves testing her limits- but she is still struggling with controlling her strength. Something as simple as a hug could prove bone-crunching to any unlucky hug-ees.

She is also known to be headstrong; acting out on decisions even when given scrutiny. Her eagerness to prove her worth to others often gets her into trouble- much to the chagrin of any would-be friends and foes alike. Despite her history in the monastery; she doesn't fully believe pacifism can solve every situation and is not afraid to use fists if the situation calls for it. Like Eden, she is book smart with hardly any field experience outside of Karda Nui's walls which would contribute in some of her mishaps as a rookie. Her chaste behavior in loo of romance can get her easily flustered; which makes hanging around a teasing flirt like Tsujii difficult in maintaining composure. Like Faybos, she tries to be optimistic when possible but would sometimes fall into cynicism when things go the wrong way. Despite her initial silence it doesn't take a lot of convincing to motivate her in showing her strength and powers.

Can create, control and absorb light. Her history and experience as a priestess coupled with her submission grappling style inspired by Toa Krohno puts her in the role of Combat Medic as opposed to Eden;s herbalist remedies. She boasts an innate ability where her light can provide rapid healing to any fallen teammates.

She bears an uncommon Kanohi known as The Mask of Demolition - Which grants the user the ability to charge at a rapid speed; knocking any unlucky enemy or obstruction out of the way.
