I understand what you are saying, StudioFovea, and I respect that. I think a little distance is sometimes a good thing. This image was shot with a Canon 20D and post-processesd with Photoshop.

Mechanically, this is absolutely beautiful. Good color, excellent lighting, and I really like the subject.

It just feels "posed." It feels as though I cannot connect with the subject and she is not connected to the art she is a part of.
This is, however, my own opinion. One must always realize there is a difference between "good art" and "art that I really like." I love the piece, it's beautiful, my preferred style is just more spontaneous, emotional, active and/or interactive. Usually.

What do you use to shoot and process these images? They come out very well.
