Description
This is a knotwork version of my Elvish signature. For those of you who read Tengwar, and were wondering why I sign my pictures with the initial "B" when my name is Feantauriel, it is the initial for my other Elvish name - Beriadanwen.Elves commonly have two names (like Arwen Undomiel, or Luthien Tinuviel), and so my full name is Beriadanwen Feantauriel. I choose to be called Feantauriel more often because I like the meaning better - "Daughter of the Forest Spirit".
This took about 6 hours.
It is done in graphite penicls - 3H, HB, 3B, 4B, and 8B - on white cardstock.

I really need to learn Elvish too.... my Elvish is so limited it basically isn't there (I just know greetings and such). The Silmarillion and numerous websites are very helpful if I ever want to say anything

In the back of the Silmarillion, there are several pages that list parts of names, and tell you what each one means; like Gil- for "star" (as in Gil-Galad), or Celeb- for "silver" (like Celeborn- "Silver tree").
I looked through those pages and came up Fea- (spirit), taur- (forest), and -iel (an ending meaning "daughter", like in Tinuviel - "daughter of twilight").
And it ended as Feantauriel!

Oh no, you see there are many Tolkien societies around the world and all of them have little (not so little actually) Tolkien clubs called smials. For example, in my country there is the AsociaciΓ³n Tolkien Argentina, located in our capital, but in the rest of the country there are smials. The idea is to promoted TolkienΒ΄s work, I myself IΒ΄m in one of them. Oh and my full name is Arienmir Armori.

Arienmir - "Jewel of sunlight" , and Armori - "outside the darkness" ? I like your name very much! I just translated the meaning using The Silmarillion.. is that how you made it?

Arienmir is perfect, but it also would be Jewel of Arien (the SunΒ΄s spirit), but Armori means "noble darkness or night" (I used the particle "ar" as "noble" in the same way itΒ΄s used in Arwen and Aredhel). My given name has many meanings "born with the light", "sunlight" or "iluminated", and my motherΒ΄s name meant "Star", one day I noticed the meanings and thought that poeticaly they say somenthing like "The Light, daughter of the Star". She passed away when I was 9 so I thought it would be a nice tribute to her. When you entered a smial you choose your elvish name and using a quenya dictionary and the Silmarillion I found the translation. Armori has to do with one of my friends comments, about the night been femenine; and the fact that I always love paradoxs give the idea to combine both of them.
Sorry for the long explanation, oh by the way, we have started with our quenya lessons in my smial, do you think if I learn it well it could be a tool of trade? I really would love to know your opinion about it.

your questions are perfectly fine, tool of trades means somenthing you can used to exchange favors to other deviants or just to make somenthing nice;also to do a colaboration between deviants.
For example, people who used really well photoshop, can name it as a tool of trade; using quenya would mean that if anyone gives me sentece to translate I can do it and this person can used it in his/her deviations. Of course, first I have to learn it, but IΒ΄m in the process.

I'm sure your help would be greatly appreciated on deviantart, as there certainly aren't many people here who are able to speak Quenya! I know there are plenty of Tolkien fans, and many, many communities (the Tolkien club, Lord-of-the-Rings, the Silmarillion club, the Fellowship, among a long list of others..). Artists and writers (especially writers, I would think) would love to incorporate the Elvish language in their work, I am sure!

my elvish name is Gilraen of Dorthonion according to one site, but another says its Ringquelleiel, my hobbit name is Pansy Brandybuck or, according to the other site its Elanor Hill from Combe, my dwarven name is FrΓ³r Copperfoot, my anduniac name is Nukumnadub, and my orcish name is ThrakhΓ³sh the Tearer...wierdness

But, as Jillian pointed out, "Tolkien fan" can be rearranged to spell "Kin to an elf". Therefore, I can have an Elvish name if I wish!
