thank you! i just found out about that technique to blow everything out in the picture besides the subject. i was quite surprised of the out come.

using layers in ps. see in the original the left side didnt have anything interesting. it was mainly just cluttered up and i wasnt going to use this picture. one of my friends saw on a different site that if you mess with the layers and blow that area out you can change the focal point of the picture. you just paint where you dont want it to be over exposed.

Ah, gotcha! A lot of times if I want things to be whiter then they were through the camera, I use the dodge brush. I try to get my whites straight from the camera though as much as possible. =]
