I have blocked two people because they made art I dislike and kept popping in the nine thumbnails of "Browse more like this" of my drawings, but it's not because I hate the artists, I just don't want to see their content.
Besides, I got blocked by random people I never interacted with before, so I figured "Oh well, if people can do that to me, I suppose I can, fair play."
And once on Discord I actually managed to reach out to a person I never knew that blocked me, and it did turn out they simply didn't want to see my art but they weren't talking shit behind my back or hating me, so I know from experience that not all people that block you are trolls or some sort of bullies.
Although, I wish DeviantArt had an option like YouTube where you can just avoid seeing thumbnails with art you dislike without needing to block the artist, like on YouTube you can set it up so you don't see thumbnails of a channel you're not interested in.
Because by blocking the people they will assume you did it with bad intentions.

I just find blocking for a difference in opinion to be an act of cowardice. I usually don't block anyone, but if I block someone it's a last resort tactic for a legitimate reason (spam, death threats, harassment, malware).
