Great backstory! Though I wished what I knew his childhood was like, I won't ask because I know it's personal.

You are welcome. I know how it feels to be questioned repeatedly.

Oh gosh, yeah. People always ask me why I moved across the country, dang it I've answered the same question a billion times.

!! That's the thing, it's kinda odd to explain. I moved to Alabama from Connecticut because my dad moved to Alabama and explained that it was a lot cheaper to live down here, the air is cleaner, the people are nicer, etc. My mom wanted to move down here too, so I just tagged along with the rest of the family. It's odd to explain because I want to give good reason for it, and people always ask "how is it cheaper?" or make a comment like, "if you mean nicer as in intolerant bible-thumpers, sure." These southerners don't realize how good they have it. We couldn't afford to live in expensive CT anymore and were actually several years behind in the mortgage. Yeah, years.
.... oops, is this a novel?
Let me shorten it: Because my family moved down here so I followed.
You see, you're my pal so it's not so annoying to explain to you. But, sometimes strangers will notice my accent is unusual, so they ask me where I'm from. I don't want to explain that to strangers, it's annoying, I'll never see them again anyway so why do they need to know?

Oh, ok! Thanks for the explanation and people from Connecticut have an accent?

Me too, actually. Supposedly they pronounce things like "scallops" like "scaul-ups" instead of "scal-ops", but despite growing up there I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way (granted it's not exactly a common word lol).
Perhaps we should youtube it, maybe there's a video about it.
