"Your eyes remained green, and your cheeks extraordinarily pale. It was while contemplating that visitor that your eyes became so bizarrely large; and she so tenderly crushed your throat that you have retained forever the desire to cry."

Charles Baudelaire - Les Bienfaits de la Lune

My project for illustration class, done about three months ago, pen + ink. Just a sample from the whole book which illustrates this poem, which was printed and bookbinded by myself D:

This is amazing! I can't imagine drawing with just ink and not being able to erase!

I make a veeeery light sketch in pencil before but most of it is drawn directly, the sketch is mainly to know where does everything go... Thank you so much!!

Wow! I'm afraid to draw with permanent tools! Lol! Even with a light sketch I'm not sure I could do it! XD

OMG! This is so AWESOME! I totally love that style of yours! When I saw this first the expression and eyes very much remembered me of Vampire Hunter D in his original Amano style! So cool!

Thank you!!!

I've always admired Amano and he is a main influence, but I hope it's not too much alike his work xDDDDDD
I wanted a vintage illustration feeling, to honour Baudelaire and the symbolism of the poem (it's in prose, yet it's a poem nonetheless xD). I also wanted it to remember Aubrey Beardsley and the decadentist art nouveau, but if you watch Amano and Beardsley together they have A LOT in common xD I just hope it has enough of myself inside.

Once the professor gives the books back i'll submit all illustrations and some pics of the finshed book

No no, it's not to much his style not at all! But the way your pen strokes look like makes a certain feeling that is similiar. Yet your styles are different, so don't worry! ;D
I personally think that the cross shading gives it a very vintage touch and of course the monochromatic look as well.

So does that mean there are more of such pieces to come?
