Okay, so the birds at my bird feeder have been going berserk lately. Between that and the sorry lack of anthro birds out there, I was forced (forced, I say!) to anthropomorphize some of my backyard friends.This is the first of at least three. Probably more. Ari is a northern cardinal. I don't know what exactly it is he's sitting on. Some stone ledge that's much too high for anyone without wings.
My resident cardinals always insist on picking the highest branch they can find when they're in the area. Drama queens. Since he's based off my cardinals, Ari is a ladies man. He likes to preen and strut for the chicks. I mean, what else would he use that silly crest for? :-p

Okay, actually yea, lemme leave a second comment:
I love this picture -- in fact, I adore it. As I said, when I was a little boy, I loved Cardinals -- I found them fascinating -- and ever since then I have adored the colour crimson -- crimson-and-black -- like Marquis Elmdor from Final Fantasy Tactics.
This picture is wonderful because you have so gorgeously -- so exquisitely -- captured, in anthro-form, one of the most delightful birds ever to grace the skies. I love this picture -- could you make me a print of it? Maybe, when I get more money around -- but yes, I'd take one, and hang it up...
This picture is like the call of the Cardinal -- have you heard it? -- he goes, "purty-purty-purty..."

Well damn! I'm absolutely flattered (for lack of a more expressive word) that you like it so much. What a generous comment. heh. It took me about an hour after reading it before I could actually articulate a response. lol Cardinals have been one of my favorite birds since I was pretty young. Their calls were the first ones I learned, actually. ^_^ It's lovely to see someone who feels strongly about such things as I do. Thank you for your lovely heartfelt comment. It was incredibly touching.

Yea, I definitely added a watch on you, and thanks for the shipping information, I'm still debating on whether to do it or not, I need to conserve money such a thing as you have painted is, like my current blue Speedcats (expensive Puma shoes) a want that became a necessity.
Once again, I can't stress how wonderful this thing is -- it's like it was, egotistical to relate but oddly true in its feeling, painted just for me...
Have you considered doing a series of such "feather-anthro's" ? It would be fascinating in the extreme to see such a thing happen -- a Raven, a Blue Jay, a Falcon, and so on.
And yes...Quick Man is the best thing from the entire Mega Man series I took from my childhood...I nothing short of idolised him, and his cool chic, and the fact that his level was well-nigh impossible made him inaccessible -- and thus, to me, and paradoxically, infinitely relatable...

I've actually got a blue jay and a crow in the works. I love ravens, so I'm sure one will turn up too. But I hadn't thought of a falcon. That could be fun.
Alas, it'll probably be a long while before I can upload them. My internship severely limits my internet access, and eats up the vast majority of my time. >_< Hopefully I'll have something to show within the next few weeks.

woah, the design to Ari is well done. keeping his hands still in form of talons/claws/whatever was done well, don't see that with many bird anthros. ;; and the coloring is love~ : D nice job Jen!

I'm glad you like it. I had a hard time choosing the hands. I didn't want the feather-fingers, since that just looks weird to me. And wings on the back kept looking awkward. I dunno. lol It works visually. I doubt they could actually fly this way, though.

I used to draw anthro stuff more often. But I fell out of the liking for it a long while ago. I probably won't do too much more after my weird bird fettish wears off, but it's a fun change from pure fantasy.
