More sketches!

So I was trying out a new style in the first pic where I just draw without sketching anything and just skip right to lining. I didn’t like it. It took like twelve times longer lol. Anyway.

1.

Winesap and Old Fashioned Lavender were definitely friends in middle/high school when they both went to the Canterlot based Royalty’s School of Friendship, run by Twilight. However, Winesap had a good buddy in elementary school, too. This was none other than Straitlace Toity-Mare, the son of Mayor Mare and Hoity Toity.

As originally stated in a headcanon by Lopoddity (that I’m borrowing), Toity is actually a hybrid. A Hinny (he has a stallion father, but a jenny [female donkey] as a mother) to be exact. It was a miracle he actually had any children, especially since both he and Mayor were definitely on the older side (she was about 45, him about 47). Straitlace was a surprise child in more ways than one; not only were they not expecting to have a child, but especially not one who bore such a large resemblance to Toity’s mother. Long ears, an overly round muzzle, and an overall more compact body type made little Straitlace stick out from the crowd. This lead to some bullying, but Winesap wasn’t one to back down from befriending anyone. And he wasn’t ever one to try to convince Straitlace that he didn’t look odd; in fact, he would encourage Straitlace to accept himself for who he was.

2.

Dark Roast (son of Donut Joe and Fine Print) may be a barista during the day, but at night, he takes on a second role as the head security guard/bouncer to the Violet Dove. It’s sort of a mystery as to how he got so big, but it comes in handy when people try to sneak in or want to pick fights. Most of the time you have to be invited to the Violet Dove, but on rare occasions, Vintage Amethyst does end up letting people in. Hurricane Blitz doesn’t know this and, mixing up the reason why he’s not being let in, is defending the fact that he may LOOK younger, but he’s not too young to be there! It’s failing badly. Roast is definitely a little more skeptical that Blitz is actually old enough to be there judging by how much the pegasus is sweating. (He actually is old enough for bars and stuff, he just has a young face)

Wonderbolts are actually part of the Equestrian military, and are technically the Air Force. All Wonderbolts, as they are part of the military, have a formal uniform— a gold uniform similar to the one that royal guards wear, just with a bit more detail (and some red crosses, in Blitz’ case). This is only used during special events when not flying, but since the shows are a big deal and even the medics need to look presentable, Blitz usually ends up wearing the full uniform. It's sort of unclear to the general public what his role in the Wonderbolts is, but he is technically a combat medic. Right now, since there’s no conflict, he accompanies the Wonderbolts on their tours for on-site treatment in case of an accident. Some smaller-town shows don't require him to wear the armor, so he'll wear a more casual/appropriate and obviously "medic" marked clothing during those.

Flavescent Skies, a surgeon at one of the best hospitals in Canterlot, is the designated surgeon of the Wonderbolts. If they have any issues that require an operation, Flav is the one who attends to them. If they were in a conflict, he would be stationed at an Army hospital as the head surgeon there. Either way, he and Blitz cross paths a lot and have formed an... interesting relationship. Because the Wonderbolts have to do daring tricks, it's common that they get hurt and it's very common that Blitz and Flav end up seeing each other. Blitz doesn't care that Flav is a bit stuck up and rude, he treats the other like a good friend, to the point where he doesn't care if he's annoying, and will beg for the other to buy him food with those "big bucks that you make from being a surgeon!" (which never works).

Also, new character alert- this is Lucky Clover, the son of Nurse Redheart and Dr. Spring Bud. He's a nurse and basically Flav's right-hand-man. They're buds. He knows that Flav and Blitz have something more than just toleration for each other... but he's just going to watch. For now.
