It's a starter I often pick the water starters because they're usually the best designed and I like water types.

When I was a kid, I loved swimming. Was my favorite activity. Other than diving the deep end of the local pool, I'd play games with my sister, one being called water kitty. Which was basically washing ashore and being pushed back in, and then swimming like a fish up and down like a wave, going as far across the pool as possible.

It's a nonsensical game of my retarded little child mind, but I liked it

When I was brainstorming up Fulisha related stuff in school, I came up with elemental variants to populate the world before scrapping them. One of these was a water Fulisha, who looks similar to this fakemon, but had black downy feathers as fins with gemstones in them. I don't know if I have any remaining art of it though, might've been tossed out. But I fondly remember it

Splishkers is conceptually a combination of my childhood swimming wonders, in poke friend form and though parts of its design take from old water Fulisha, its upper parts are from 3 separate AI creations, spliced together for reference and redrawn by me to what I wanted. Though the feet fins and tail fin are entirely made from scratch because AI is garbage at mermaids and it wouldn't have ever made them the way I would've liked (trying to draw the right pose was also difficult, originally one of its legs was raised before I lowered it to make it flow better with the tail fin.)

The overall palette was suggested by some of the folks in the Smogon CAP Discord In the way that I see this little dude swimming, it forms its feet fins and tail fin together into 1 big fin like a mermaid. As for its affinity for waves? That's what its final evolution will become ;3
