Another quite random doodle with background of some siderian (northern horse-sized CATS) dudes as lanky adolescents.

Ruben has a reference sheet too but I haven’t published it yet. Anyway, he’s Rubi & Goran 's son.
Torstein & Ruben were seen by my friend RiverRaven and me sort of simultaniously.

Initially I just saw Torstein making this face with one ear turned then and got a bit of a random idea to draw him as an adolescent, just curious to see how lanky he really was. His skeleton gets heavier with adulthood and he gets quite a lot more muscle, but still he remains long and (very) tall. Even, as an adolescent he quickly reached his adult height, which is among the tallest I’ve ever seen in siderians. Yet he was a lot lighter so he looked lanky as feck.

Then I thought…why not draw him with his similar aged friends and (distant) cousins as they spent quite some time together – particularly Torstein and Morthian who become best friends (see their stories on their refsheets, if you are interested). Morthian and Ruben are a little younger than Torstein and hadn’t grown in height just yet – hence the massive size difference. Morthian gets quite tall as well and actually comes quite close to Torstein – which is hard to believe when you see them sit together here. Ruben is kind of average for a guy and may feel small next to Torstein.

Some siderian nerdiness about puberty and fur extentions:
Also an interesting thing with siderian puberty is the growth of fur extensions. Cubs don’t have the long manes, fluffy tails, 'feathers', beards and shoulder crests like many adults have. This only begins to grow during puberty when they first get sexually mature. Then it takes quite a long time before fur extensions reach full length. Both genders have these extensions which I call ‘ornaments’ but males tend to have more prominent ornaments than females (particularly manes and beards). Siderians vary in preference for ornaments but generally speaking, a heavily ornamented siderian is considered sexy for both genders. Yet there are examples of short haired siderians like Rubi who are also seen as very sexy for most males. Overall, females are pickier than males, hence the heavier ornamentation. The most important ornament is the shoulder-crest which I tend to nickname as ‘fin’. This fin represents a healthy level of sex hormones and also mirrors a siderian’s overall health.
