Description
The legendary white siderian named Stygian Stígandr Sætansen (or shortly: Stian) . Even though he's white, he's not the main character of my current comic called 'Reign of Siderians, Theory of Mind'. This comic is actually a sideline of my stories, about another white siderian called Yves. Stian is actually the main character of another storyline which I see as the main storyline. I haven't started a comic or something else about his story, but I have big plans....See his charactersheet below to read more about him - for as far as I haven't changed it.The scene I've drawn here is based on this music fragment of Harry Potter 6- around 1.30 min.

I just saw this scene exactly this in my head - Stian, powerful and mighty, surrounded by the mighty mountains along the Norwegian fjords...ready to fight his biggest enemy...humans. He has some good reasons to hate this species. He's followed by rage and fear throughout his whole life and bears the many scars left of human encounters...

Siderians are large FELINE hybrids; a mix between a tiger and an oriental cat (siamese/balinese ect), with the huge paws of an eurasian lynx. So they are NOT wolves or something...

I just suddenly noticed that while thinking about Stian's hatred for humans I say: 'yes, but he has reasons', while in fact it's a real racism.
I guess we can always forgive a cat!

Being a racist would mean that he would hate certain races of his own species, and that he obviously does not. He only hates another species: Homo sapiens . You don't call people who deeply hate wolves and do everything to exterminate them racist either - because here we speak again of another species and not a race. Hitler was a racist - he wanted to exterminate a certain group of his own species...

You're right. I think I'm taking the word 'race' in Star Wars way, when there are a lot of different species around, and all of them can think.
It's just a bit weird to think that the character I like would hate me if we met in real life

Ah I see. Have you read his background story in detail? He has good reason. If not, I can maybe note you a more updated version. Anyway strange enough he would hate me too and if I'm not careful he would also kill me. But there are many siderians who won't kill us.

Thanks! Well, there are a few concepts that you can explore to get a more 3D feeling in your art. It’s a bit much to tell in one comment. But try exploring depth-of-field, making the background blurry and keep the focus on the characters head. If you have a background it’s important to have a foreground, middle ground and background. The background is usually lighter (and bluer) than the foreground due to atmospheric effects. Try to explore the concept of value-composition and general composition of a drawing. To get a more 3D feeling on the characters itself it’s important to study the anatomy correctly, so that you can make some muscles or bones stand out, by adding more shadows or highlights. Here it’s important to have different levels of shading (and keep the light source in mind!) – you need an overall light-dark gradient on the character, some basic shadings, deep shadings and some highlights and reflected lights. There are many tutorials on this (see my tutorial folder in my favs). You can also use perspective to get a more 3D effect, and use overlapping features (like a tree in front of a character, or characters standing in front of each other)- but make sure the perspective is correct in that case. Anyway I hope that this gave you some tips.

I love the splashes in the foreground, I love how proud (and fluffy ) he looks, the aurora and the night sky are drawn perfectly, the shading is both perfect and awesome, and the rocks and mountains look so cool!

Haha yeah I wouldn't try to hug him, but cuddle...I wouldn't try but if he discovers that there are people that really love other species and fight for preserving nature, he may at least not kill you.

So powerful and proud! A lot of attitude comes through in this picture based on the posture alone. I enjoy the background, throughout your comic and your pictures your backgrounds are very appealing and really set the setting well (as dumb as that sounds its important!) I love the fur and the head shape!

Yeah indeed - I've oriental cats myself and they are a HUGE inspirationsource for my original species which is a mix between Oriental cats and tigers.
