This is quite different from your usual works, since most involve no sign of human existence nor fire. But you've done very well outside of your comfort zone. The particles and that cold-to-warm gradient makes it very nice. I notice the armour makes it harder to convey organic movements.... there's no easy solution to that I think. I think a more dynamic posture of the legs could have helped - even sacrificing a bit of accuracy of posture in midair jump might be worth it sometimes. Even so, it's quite dynamic, with all particles, snow and motion blur. Those few sharp trees in the background are also a very nice touch - overall, the background is simply fantastic.
*epically belated comment dance XD *

Yeah I realise that this is the first time that I actually involved some human-related stuff O.O The cold-warm gradient is something I really like and should use a bit more often (although I think it's a bit cliché).
I'm not sure if I get the point about the dynamic pose - but it's at least true that siderians feel restricted in their movements in such armor (even though they might work on improvements). They might also be less stealthy and therefore prefer to wear light armor whenever possible XD.
Ha and good to hear about the motion blur and sharpness-balance. That's something I sometimes overdo a bit.

I cannot see it as a cliché. It's not a cliché if it works so well. As for the pose, I thought it feels a bit.... flat, because you don't really see both hind legs - that's what I meant by sacrificing a bit of realism for the look, because it would have been better if both legs were visible and in slightly different positions to add more dynamic feeling. The front legs seem better, especially the right one, though it feels a bit awkward to me that the two paws are postured so completely differently, I wouldn't have even thought he can flex his paw so much. As a whole, the movement seems less organic in the armour, but I guess that's to be expected because it is indeed much more restricted.
I have rarely seen you overdo things, you know.

Ah this is really nice to see this finished! I know there are the lighting and the dark contrast from the fog of the thick smoke of war...it really gives this a deep mood. And I appreciate that though Goran typically doesn't fight with the mass's of Stian's followers, when it comes to defending his homeland he will not stand for it. And woe be to anyone who crosses him once he's decided to stand and fight...the White Devil is not the only one to be feared here...

Thankies!! Yeah that's the usual kinda war-mood that one sees on battle-pictures and I saw such a mood in my head too. I think it fits the seen indeed XD. Hm yeah I still have to learn more about his general attitude and feelings, but so far I think that he actually doesn't think much about what he feels. He is not much into philosophy and just does what he thinks needs to be done. He lacks the sort of hate Stian has, although he does dislike modern humans and he can hate them in the moment but it's a very different way of hating I think. Difficult. But in these cases where they attack siderian clusters - I think Goran is very well able to hate as well and then he acts upon it...

Lol, that sounds like him indeed. I can see him now shrugging "I don't know, I like what I like. Does there have to be a why to everything? All this talk is making me tired already!" lol...
I can easily understand his point there. A general frustration perhaps but not this deep seething hatred. Makes sense to me. But indeed I'm sure at times he can feel almost like he hates them...or at least comes to better understand why his brother hates them as he does...

Do their paws function as hands enough to perform the motions enough to get the armor on their bodies (or construct it), or do they perhaps have human/ape allies?

In the comments I have described that the whole purpose of this armor is to fight against invading humans. It is true that there are places where siderians and (mostly) indigenous people live under more neutral circumstances. However, even then they would never put themselves in such a position that they depend on another species.
And yes, they have very long thumbs, that can reach the ‘pointing’ finger like in polydactyl cats home.kpn.nl/~siduroy99/Plaatje… and 1.bp.blogspot.com/-vHr-beuzm-k… - you can also observe this in my other siderian drawings. I have seen a cat with polydactyly myself and can indeed confirm that they can use their claws in a very hand-like manner. Moreover, they can use forceps like tools (which would work with their long thumbs) to manipulate objects at very fine scale– based on lab-experience, this works XD

I read that it was against invading humans, which lead me to believe that there were humans who weren't invading and were against the mass destruction of another sentient species, just as there are in the 'normal' world. Your description also suggests that the siderians initiate attacks by provoking human attack by invading cities and towns. I'm just very curious of the lore as this is the first time I've noticed siderians and humans interacting (usually it is only with the hyenas in your images). And I'm very interested now that here is one wearing armor.
I'd love to see an image of a siderian crafting armor/weaponry that was high enough caliber to be bulletproof. Unless they are magical and able to use the superclusters (as I'm not that clear of their purpose yet) to craft the armor (and put it on) without the dexterity required of thumbs and gripping hands.

I really like your logic and scientific critical thinking here! It is indeed a very complex situation and that is what I wish to emphasize in the books. The reader will meet different characters (both siderians and humans) with different perspectives on the conflict. There are indeed siderians and humans that strongly oppose these conflicts and the mass destruction of other beings.
However, there are siderians like Stian, who have had so many negative experiences with humans over and over again, that they have developed such a deeply rooted hate for humans that they simply cannot live together with them. The same would be true for some humans though. Stian indeed takes quite an offensive role and starts to attack cities and towns in guerrilla style. Many siderians –even those with a negative attitude towards modern humans- oppose this violent strategy and many would call Stian and his followers hypocrites. On the other hand, there are groups among siderians that have similar experiences as Stian and they support the fact that siderians finally stand up and fight back for what has been taken from them. We also have this guy blackmystica.deviantart.com/ar… - who is actually one of the ‘Greenpeace’ activists among siderians and he really fights for a harmony between siderians and humans. So, the conflict is complex and has many faces – and that is what I want to bring forward in these books. Although I still definitely want to show the reader the damage humanity can do but I don’t want to show only one side, and definitely not only the most extreme side (e.g. Stian et al.)
About the clusters – I call them metaclusters, from the word ‘meta’ from metaphysics. Superclusters make me think of the gigantic clusters of galaxies in the universe . So, siderians possess no magical powers, nor is there any magic in the world. Siderians do know of physics in a way that is unfamiliar to humans, and this I call metaphysics. I would not call this magical- my brother is actually a physician and he said that many of the concepts about metaphysics make more or less sense (even though it still is fantasy).
But as I actually said – they have thumbs that are able to grab things in a similar way as humans do, which makes their paws functioning like gripping hands. It is only on a different scale, regarding the size of siderian paws. But this could be compensated for by using protracted sharp claws. I realize that I don’t have many sketches of that in my gallery. I submit more concept art on my tumblr reignofsiderians.tumblr.com/ , if you are interested. I have indeed plans to make more sketches (if I have enough time next to work...) of siderians working with tools and I want to show more of their technology – so thanks for the questions!

Cool!! Thank you for taking the time to type all that out to help me understand ^_^;
AH, Metaclusters, sorry. I was actually reading an article about galaxies in another window at the time and believe I had 'super clusters' stuck in my brain from that.
That's interesting though. So theoretically metaclusters could open portals through space and time? It would make sense then in the concept of this story for humans to want to get their hands on them. And I could understand siderians as a sort of ancient protector of the 'force' within the crystals.

Thankies! Haha yeah they are quite an advanced species - although they mainly live like indigenous people; in balance with nature and without all the modern stuff. But when they are 'cornered' they do take action and make armour and weapons to defend themselves and some - llike Stian et al. - even strike back.
ha yeah usually Goran is lazy like f*ck, so it's good to see him in action. When he needs, he can have his 'power explosions'.
Ah yeah it will take three books to tell that story about siderians and humans- so it's more complicated than a frontal battle with only two sides XD

Hm yeah I have actually been thinking about the use of crystals in armor and weapons. I have to think about how exactly, but yeah they do use the conversion power of it.
ha yeah I plan indeed on selling these books, probably on a small scale - so you will be able to get a copy. I have recently started writing, but it ended up to be a scene somewhere in the last book (Mutual Exclusion)....so I think I just write as the scenes come and illustrate whatever I see. Will soon make a proper writing plan of the first of the serious series, namely Predator Control.

Yeah parts of it are - but I think the black material might be of something lighter and maybe even stronger. Some sort of fibres, but I have to figure out more about that.
