Hello!

My name is EloΓsa Valdes and in case you don't know it yet I'm one of your gallery moderators for photojournalism.

Congratulations on the DD!

I'd like to also inform you that we have a photojournalism monthly newsletter, called "Fear No More!, in which the DDs are featured, but there is also lots of informations: about contests going on, interviews, etc. This deviation of yours was obviously featured in there, along with many others. In case you are curious about it you can check it at: [link]

Oh, and we also have an official group for photojournalism now, it's called #NewsStand I thought you'd like to know!

C ya!

Very good photographic work - that's quite some mastery of black and white, there.

Strong imagery. Good shot. I agree with others, though. Maybe a little more commentary...

I agree with other commenters that an explanation, even if only a sentance or two long, would be helpful for this shot. This photograph brings up a lot of questions--which could very well be its point, I know--but it's hard to get the full emotional impact, when the first thought in my head is 'what exactly am I looking at?' and not 'what an intense/unhappy/moving shot'.

That being said, this is a very grim photo...the sort of photo that needs to be taken, so we don't forget the world isn't all sunshine. Very effective use of b+w, as well--really highlights the stark reality of the situation.

I just wish I knew what the situation *was*.

Either that or being killed by a really hawt chick.

If this is staged, it is done better then anything i have ever seen, if it is not staged i still commend you on capturing a fantastic shot!! One of the best photographs i have ever seen.

For those who may find it disturbing that the photographer didn't lend a hand: to me it is like the shows Nature, National Geographic & the like, the camera people/photographers are not allowed to interfere with what is naturally happening. ie save life (i don't think i need to give examples of this). There is a natural order to things & a photographer who has a camera with him/her is a photographer, that is what they do. Who is anyone to say or judge. Who is anyone to say (other then persons who were present) what happened immediately after this photograph was taken. It is a moment captured in time & probably has an infinite amount of scenarios that could be. I mention this just to hopeful remind people that there are many ways to interpret things & even when you think you have all of the facts, you don't.
If anyone wants to respond to this (please don't, i am not looking for a debate, but if you must) please note me as i will not respond here & spam this comment section anymore then i already have, it is disrespectful.

Again, i LOVE this photograph. It is a deff for me & i can not wait to look at the rest of your gallery. Congrats on a well deserved DD felixlu!!!
