What’s that? Yet another character design!

I’m working on the redux for Overworld, which has so far gone from straight up sci-fi to fantasy and now back to a near-future sci fi look.

One of these days I might actually stop switching styles and just draw the damn thing.

Anyway, this is Elena Daniels, or Ell. She’s a hopelessly optimistic adventurer wanna-be in a world where hostility is more than just the status quo. Her home is the Drifts, a ring of floating islands in a constant state of flux as they’re shifted around by the winds, circling a small set of much larger, less mobile islands called the Anchors. While the Anchors are home to a large, stable and (mostly) peaceful population, the Drifts couldn’t be more opposite.

Problems arise when a somewhat respected researcher from the Anchors crashes onto Ell’s island and ends up getting them both in trouble with one of the biggest gangs on her island: The Blood Hammers. Things seem pretty dire then, but, somehow, from there they just end up getting worse.

So yeah, I’m still riffing on the main storyline, shoving plot points around like checkers but I finally do feel like I’m getting it somewhere that I’m happy with. It’s a nice feeling
