digging the retro sci-fi look, i also really like the hair very sultry. Making her a lesbian is an interesting departure from the original canon.

Thanks, glad you like the piece!
I was really jazzed when I read about Maxima being gay in the New 52, as well as her attraction towards Supergirl. It laid down some great groundwork for me to rework her origins and supplant Supergirl with Power Girl as her object of affection.

She looks great! I totally recognize her!
The armor reminds me of her original design, while the colors are from her second design.
I didn't know about the crush for Powergirl, but I can see why. I kind of liked her brief connection with Captain Atom, a very powerful hero in his own right.
I really liked Maxima, especially in the JL, so it's nice to see new art of her.
Well done!

Ah, I see! Very cool, I like your version and your thoughts for her! And now I'm curious about the New 52 version.

I've yet to read those particular issues. While the later half of the series kind of drags, the first half of the New 52 Supergirl is amazing.

Hm good to know, perhaps time to pick up a trade! I did like the drawings and have sampled a couple of issues, but there were too many books that interested me and I didn't follow through.

I was lucky in that my library has all the New 52 Supergirl trades.

I'm not that familiar with Maxima, but this is still pretty cool artwork. ^_^

This is yet another character I'm not familiar with, but I'm kind of interested in knowing more about her now. I like her running, or more accurately, flying away from home just so she can date who she wants to date. It makes her really relatable since her planet obviously is similar to countries with those same standards. I love the way you describe her interactions with her teammates. She sounds like she'd be the bane of by-the-book Captain Atom's existence.
I'm really diggin' her look. She sorta reminds me of Starfire, what with the purple and the red hair, and on top of that they both happen to be humanoid aliens, but she still looks unique. I think her gold parts especially look pretty kickass. And the different shades of purple all go really well with each other. I even like the short cape, which is saying a lot because I usually don't.

Thanks for the comment! As always, it's really appreciated!
I'm definitely grateful towards the re-introduction of Maxima into the pages of Supergirl, wherein she was given a new origin where she fled her home planet due to their laws against gay relationships. That was just the inspiration I needed to rework her accordingly.
Also, I'm glad you like the look itself! I certainly struggled with the colour scheme⦠it almost ended up being purple, gold and green. I didn't actually even think that she'd be vaguely similar to Starfire. In the early stages, I was actually partly using Marvel's Medusa as an inspiration for the design.

I can totally see the Medusa inspiration now that you pointed it out. I think purple and green would've made her look kinda villainish. It seems to be a popular color scheme with comic baddies, namely Joker, Lex Luthor, Green Goblin, Riddler, Kang the Conquerer, Annihulis, Mysterio, Killer Moth, etc.

Oh wow! I'd never even put two-and-two together on that. Why do supervillains love green and purple so much?

What's even wierder is that red and black are usually the go-to villain colors, and yet they tend to be worn by heroes like Batwoman, Robin, Ant-Man, and Nightcrawler, or anti-heroes like Red Hood and Deadpool. Harley Quinn is the most obvious exception, and even then she isn't really straight-up evil.

True! You know, in Elizabethan theatre they used colour to signify what characters actors were playing. For instance, villains sore black (duh) and royals wore purple.

Again, you did a wonderful job with Maxima here. It's kinda ironic that she's a strong, independent woman, used to rule over others, yet her main motivation is to get herself a spouse.
