I know your latest design of Frenzy's costume is less cheesecake-y, but I maintain that this is the better overall design. Theres something about the way the costume mimics an 80's power suit up top, in conjunction with the way it fits over the gold necklaces. Plus the close-cropped hair with the gold earrings!? 10 out of 10

Thank you! I think I agree with you regarding Frenzy's design (though I do like the blue boots from the updated version). If anything, I'd zip the top up a little more to get rid of the cleavage or at least not show so much of it. Same with Monet.

The costume designs are very nice, though , yeah, if needed t would be hard has hell to run in heels so flats would be a better choice. Not familiar with the character Frenzy(comic-canon or OC). The braids in Storm's hair seem like a slight cliché(woman of African heritage with braids like that). Overall, very nice though

Thanks!
Frenzy is a canonical Marvel character. Not that you asked, but I figured I'd let you know a bit about her since she's actually really cool. She made her debut in the '80s as one of X-Factor's earliest antagonists. She was a member of the Alliance of Evil, which was Apocalypse's strike team prior to the introduction of the Four Horsemen. The group would later disband and Frenzy would become one of Magneto's Acolytes. She remained loyal for years before eventually being manipulated into temporarily joining the X-Men by Jean Grey. After this, she allied herself with Mister Sinister. During one conflict, she was subdued by Magneto. Afterwards, she slowly progressed towards becoming a hero. She lived through the alternate reality known as Age of X, where she was a hero and married to Cyclops. Unable to shake off those memories, she decided to remain with the X-Men and was a member of a team led by Rogue. She would later leave the X-Men in order to lend her aid to Crystal of the Inhumans as a means of helping to protect mutants from the harmful effects of the Terrigen Clouds.
Powers-wise, Frenzy is a total tank. She has super strength (on par with She-Hulk) and her skin is impenetrable. The only thing that can pierce it is adamantium.
My version of Frenzy is a wee bit different. You can read her backstory here: X-Men - Frenzy Redesign .
In terms of Storm's hair, I disagree. For one, she's not wearing braids. They're twists. There's a lot to unpack with a statement that says a black hairstyle is "cliché," especially since black hairstyles hold a lot of cultural importance and are often a source of discrimination when black women wear them. There's a lot of discussion surrounding Storm's appearance and I've paid close attention to what black women have had to say about her various depictions. First and foremost, the character was created using and adheres to Eurocentric beauty standards. Despite being a dark-skinned black woman, she is drawn with a small, thin nose and is given type 2 hair (rather than type 4). For decades, she's been drawn and written almost exclusively by men. They've dictated the way she looks without any concern for the opinion's of actual black women. In the discussions I've had with black women and the various threads and articles I've read, there's a desire for more variety and consistency with the way black superheroines' hairstyles are drawn. They want to see Storm with more than just straightened hair. Many black cosplayers will cosplay as Storm with an afro, while there are many who draw fanart of Storm with dreads or braids. When the first images of Angela Bassett came out as Ramonda, many commented on the fact that she looked exactly the way they wanted Storm to look and how the hairstyle was perfect for Storm. I similarly noticed this lack of variety when I did my 28 Days of Black Superheroines project, where I noticed that the vast majority of black superheroines only had one of two styles. They either wore their hair straightened/relaxed (or with a weave/wig) or they had an afro (with many wearing them in afro puffs). You can see how obvious the lack of variety is here: Black Superheroines Rock . The bottom line is this - comic book companies need to hire more black women (as writers, as editors, as artists, as colonists, as inkers, etc.) to more accurately depict black women and artists who are already in the industry need to do their research and put more work into black hairstyles. There was a video that made the rounds on the internet a while ago about the cultural importance of braids and I wish I could remember the source, because I would definitely recommend checking it out. It was very informative. But I guess that's all my way of saying, no, depicting a black woman wearing braids is not cliché. It cannot be cliché when society at large refuses to allow black women to be depicted wearing them in the media and when they are not celebrated for wearing them (in fact they're discriminated for it) like white women are (i.e. Bo Derek, the Kardashians).

As a dark-skinned black woman whose parents were both black (especially since her mother was Kenyan), Storm would have type 4 hair. The justification for her hair being type 2 being a result of her mutantcy speaks more to people's desire for her to adhere to Eurocentric beauty standards and artists' laziness than anything else.

These kinds of conversations are had every day - from Twitter threads to articles to con panels to podcasts to interviews. It may be new to you, but it's been ongoing for a while. Comic book companies are only recently starting to listen and hire more thoughtfully when putting together creative teams for a series. I suspect a part of it comes from a capitalist perspective of seeing the economic benefits of proper creative teams and representation. The DCEU would be getting scrubbed I'm sure if Wonder Woman hadn't been its life raft, Black Panther was an absolute juggernaut, and DC Superhero Girls is a major money maker.

This piece is fantastic; I really like all of these designs. In fact, I was going to say which ones I particularly like, first, but then I realized that I'd wound up listing off all of them anyway; trying to narrow it down, I’d have to say Emma Frost, Revenant and Storm, and those three are just a hair ahead.
All of these designs are great; each of them has these little details and touches that make me just love them. To say one facet of each of their costumes that I like in particular; how Emma’s top tapers down into a coat, the way that the fingers and knuckles on Monet’s suit are coloured differently, Rachel’s whole punk aesthetic, Kitty and Jean’s boots (just like the hands of Monet’s suit, the little bits of different colour really make them pop; it’s just the colour scheme of their particular boots that I like most), Storm’s hairstyle, Betsy’s hood (the colour scheme and particular shades look really good too; it reminds me of how ancient ninja dressed in the colour of the night sky), Dazzler’s makeup, and Joanna’s jewellery.
I’m glad to see that you’re doing art and posting again. It’s important for people to recharge, of course; if you’re posting less regularly, or even if this and the other posts you’ve done are it for another few months, is all totally fine. Either way, I hope you’re doing well, and I hope that things only get better. <3
