experimental painting of Oliver because he is my vocaloid son, I know his design isnt meant to be like a sailor's but i always associated him with that theme anyway LOL and ive always wanted to do a proper art of him but, this feels less like fan art and more like it happens to have him in the corner, w o o p s
it was kinda fun to binge on a painting but at the same time i think i died a lil? This took about two weeks, LOL so many refs,, cant tell if used them right, but yeah I also wanted to challenge myself so I guess thats accomplished dies again, i must draw some chill art--
also wow it turned out a lot more monochrome than when it started lol.. dunno how to think of it zoomed in weeps
and since im officially signed up for Sacanime, I will try to make this a print!!

I draw with Paint Tool Sai 2! It's a lil pricey (~$55) but it's pretty lightweight and simple to use unlike Photoshop! Though I do use photoshop as well for some adjustments ;v; digital art in general is tricky especially when starting out but use lots of references and tutorials >v

holy hell the details on the water are so intricate
and tbh even if you feel like it only looks like a thing that happens to have oliver, i feel as if he blends in with the rest of the art and it feels like hes a part of it, and not a random happenstance

I always appreciate you try new stuff and feel glad that it turned out well. Good to see you begin to draw detailed stuff. Just look at the ship! It is not just detailed,it is realistic too!
The right choice of color successfully makes gloomy atmosphere. Trust me,If I were Oliver,I would not smile like that but feel scared instead because I lost in the centre of the ocean and my ship was wrecked :0.
After looking the gif of the work,I really like the sky in the beginning!It is beautiful.Too bad you cannot use it since it is not the stuff you want.Seriously,drawing the ship involves two-points perspective? It is just too professional,isn't it? Just WOW.
Due to the similar color of sky and ocean,I think if you paint the lower part of the sky and upper part of the ocean with softer color separately and leave a thin white area,the sky and the ocean will be separated clearly,the sense of space can be stronger too~
Let's see what surprise you can bring for us next time
