Wow, this is a very well drawn comic of Link living the forest.
I always thought that parting scene was very touching.

OoT was my first own LoZ game and playing experience (after watching a childhood friend play ALttP) and so Saria became the first and thus the most memorable character of the series to me.

Yes, Malon is a nice girl. I just feel more connected to Saria and adore her selfless, wise and calm nature. Also, her bound with Link is the deepest I know of. Only Midna came close to that, since she and Link went through a lot as well.
