Indeed. For clean looking shaved areas, I use an electric shaver. (has been retired for this sole purpose, because of the rougher nature of dealing with so much faux fur) When in doubt, use longer hair, because it can always be shaven. DF furs seem to shave very well compared to other faux furs, as well.
I used your fur length for my gray and black on my head, as you can see in the photo. The white is monkey shag.
Color mismatching is always lame.
