Gorgeous. I have spent so many hours of my life trying to capture what you just did here. It is so very difficult to capture that perfect wave, splashing up into little droplets. Fantastic job.

I have a hard time knowing when a wave is going to make a really large splash (which is usually what I want) as opposed to a small ripple.

Ah, yes, that is a matter of luck really. I just snap away as the wave approaches rocks; eventually you get a knack of predicting splash sizes.
