So, Sukuna is secretly a guy living amongst the feminine cast of Touhou?

Don't you get what she's saying? She's saying that they don't believe in female dwarves, meaning that they are now in Gensokyo.

They said that in LotR? It's been a while since I saw this movie.

Actually, according the original Norse Myths, Dwarves literally did come from the ground/the bowels of Ymir.

And, if I recall correctly, DwarvesΒ in LotRΒ were actually crafted out of stone by one of the gods.
Tolkien knew his stuff ;3

Then again, Dwarves are also supposed to be Dark Elves but Mythologies can't even keep their facts straight(Apparently Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Trolls, Ogres, and Orcs are more or less the same thing) so Tolkien can't be blamed for taking a few liberties.

It certainly leads to more interesting diversity.
Before Shakespeare wrote 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', fairies were only considered little people that kidnapped children;
so much has changed since then

Considering where dwarfs are often depicted living in, that doesn't surprise me in the least.
