Description Everything that could've gone wrong with this picture did. I had an amazing final product in mind, but I couldn't get anything to look just the way I envisioned it. Instead of this craptacular drawing, pretend that it is almost night on a lonely desert with an arab trotting toward the sunset.

My apologies to the wonderful ~DustysDarkRyder , who graciously allowed me to reference her gorgeous Arabian, Janati. I want to draw every picture I see of this horse. [link]

Anyhow, this was supposed to be for a contest (which I didn't get it finished in time for), but maybe it is for the best. I wouldn't have walked away with any awards, that's for certain.

don't be too hard on yourself, the tones, contrast, shading and the idea itself are lovely, I like the fluidity. I also love how fine and silky you made her mane and tail look!

I guess it is such a disappointment to me because I pictured it coming out much differently, and naturally I'm frustrated that I failed to acheive the look I wanted. Thanks for your comment, however.

well I can understand that. when that happens, it's hard to appreciate how good the piece actually is

most of what I draw doesn't turn out the way I see it in my mind.
This is still a great drawing even though it isn't what you wanted it to be.

Not one of your more pulled together drawings but still you did a great job. The Arabian turned out beautiful, but I agree the sand and landscape does not work as well. It's actually not to far off though. The highlights in the sand are a bit to strong and you don't have any hoof prints or a shadow so the horse appears to have been pasted on the background. Both of these are simple to fix and would make a huge improvement. So don't distress

Very nice job with the horse on this as usual! The background ... only real problem I have with the background is the foreground sand, which looks kinda odd, though the ripples do have a realistic feel. Can't wait to see more of your horse drawings!

It's the sand that I hate the most--it was just too complicated to draw perfectly.

Thanks for taking a look, however.

I think its beautiful the sand is a little detracting but the mountains...and the horse are lovely. I think it may not have quite the atmosphere you were looking for...but it still is captivating!

It's the sand that bothers me the most. It looks like a zebra.

heh, I think it should be in more normal patters, like ziggy-ish lines (not too sharp lines, cause it is sand after all) that run together...cause ya know the wind creates the lines and the wind isn't like a single little ...tip? idk what I'm trying to say

Yeah, the pictures I have looked at sand were not good references for this...that and sand is a pain in the a** to draw because of the complex patterns.

I don't think I'll attempt sand again, but thanks for the tip!

i tot she looked flawless!...excellent details again ..
maybe wat's lacking is tt she looked as if she was "pasted" onto the desert than trotting..
but there's still lots of details to everything..great piece!

I think that's what bothers me the most....I couldn't get the sand to look right with the horse.

My gosh I saw this from afar and fell in love with it and now up close it is even so much better. No no, this is not at all a bad picture I think it is one of the best. The mane and tail are amazing and the tones too. This looks so real to me seriously. The right back leg is my favourite part because the shading just looks so good and realistic. Wonderful job, I hope in time you find this picture to be lovely too.

If the background looked realistic, I think I would like it. I guess this picture just reaffirms that I am better at drawing a subject and having no background...

Thanks for you comment, anyhow. I am grateful.
