Emmerich in Royally Frozen II

I had loads of fun with his outfit and pose, but shading and the background was a bit of a nightmare! I tried to get creative with the light, but it was difficult with the snowflakes and not making the piece too busy. Anyway, all-in-all this was definitely enjoyable to put together!

Story:
Jorunn unclipped the leadrope from Emmerich's halter as his pricked his ears up, frosted breath pouring from his nostrils in with a deep exhale. He shook his mane and moved out to the arena, sniffing the air and enthusiastically trotting into the middle of the sandy space, curiously looking up as snow fell through the ceiling and into the air above him. With an interested whinny he began to prance and frolic about, confused by the sudden release of smoke over the ground. Jorunn watched with a smile, crossing her arms from the edge of the arena. She was worried he would act up or panic, but his nervousness seemed to have left him immediately as he entered the arena. She was glad there was so much for him to look at as the judges wrote notes, his cape and golden chains glittering in the desirable lighting of the whole set up. She was proud of her handiwork, having been responsible for putting together his outfit in the weeks coming up to the show. She was worried that something would fall off during his performance, but as the crowd quietly applauded, and she went to collect the stallion from the arena, she was happy to see it was all in one piece. As she lead him out, he let out a excitable neigh and kicked up his heels in a buck, causing the crowd to laugh excitedly and clap once more, Jorunn smiling and patting the big stallion's neck.
