Description A lifebelt and the sea. yeah i sat there for maybe an hour in the freezing cold waiting for that one huge wave to come over and throw itself over the top of the lifebelt.
it never happened.
and i got a runny nose.
also, this was taken in dorset, england.

i actually like this one? even with its crappy quality

From you own comment and from your replays I understood that you don't really understand why people like this pic, am I right? Well, first of all, I guess that you like it too... It just wouldn't be here on DA and in the group if you didn't like it. OK, all the artists wish to know what is it there in their art and go for different methods
You say this shot is "empty"? Bull***p ! It has all the aspect of a nice composition - an object on the foreground that catches the attention, nice atmospheric coloring and a beautiful sea/cloudy-sky background as a finishing touch.
It might not be the peak of originality or something, but it is a reasonably good photo.

well, i understand it has good symmetry, and it follows the rule of thirds. the blue also contrasts greatly against the red. but it just seems... depressing i dont know.
i re-uploaded this picture after i edited it a bit though. at first it was very dull and lifeless. a little photoshop fixed the brightness though

Most of the shots made in bad weather are dull, you did a great job fixing that! So on the whole, the photo is quite good, don't you agree?

Hehe as someone who grew up in a seaside town I'd say you have captured a certain grim charm of the English coast out of season here

With this sort of shot the less than perfect quality actually works well with the subject matter anyway.

haha, yeah, think its more of a challenge trying to capture a sunny day than anything else. and i think youmight be right. gives it a grittier, rougher look i guess.
thankyou for the fav aswell

I agree with you I really like this one too. There's just something about it, something cold and mysterious.. it sucks that you got a runny nose though! I think it was worth it though

its quite an empty photo, really square and symmetrical. but it has something about it?
just wish that bloody wave would show up. thankyou for the feedback!
