It is strange that she wields the power of Thor while her name and coloring refers to Makoto of the Wood. Anyway, I admire her non-senshi personality.

You do know that the kanji for wood in her name is also the first kanji of the Japanese name for Jupiter which is mokusei. I am not certain about this, but I think that the Asian concept of wood is/was used for a section of her powers.
Also, she does have plant based abilities - most in the manga, Flower Hurricane and Coconut Cyclone come to mind; she also has a pair of scented rose earrings, in the manga her ponytail holder looks like it is some sort of flower, she also has a rose belt in the manga.

On a Japanese calender, the symbol used to represent Thursday is the character for "tree." Another symbol used for Thursday is Jupiter's astrological sign.
