I mentioned this butterfly to Violetrosepetals awhile ago but never got around to actually posting a shot of one. This is a male Great Eggfly (Hypolimnas bolina). A sure sign its a male is the purple spots on the hindwing and I admit are difficult to catch.Related content

When we went to the caribbean they had more than a few of these guys.

Oh no dont be sorry! It could be just my computer or a million other things! I still love it, I guess I was just expecting a bright...obvious purple like my icon. Silly me.

No its ok, I kind of knew what you were hoping for and I know it looks more blue than purple so don't worry about it but one of these days I'll get one truely purple for you.
