HOLY COW! I found this really nice and simple tutorial on galaxy pixel art by DidTheSqd and I was so amazed by how well it turned out. I'll link this tutorial and the ref image (well a screenshot of it in the art program I was using) below. I totally recommend it. Plus this gave me a great chance to play around with the program I use. I was just browsing for ideas for an icon and BAM. A way for me to do it on my own.
