I think that it's all really a part of Azula's plan. That she's using Mai, or Mai and her are working together, or something. Zuko's just a pawn, as always.

Mmmm... I think that it is going a litle far to say it "ruined all Zutarians " I even beleve it would be going to far to say it ruined most. Because I think a large number, perhapse I shall even dare to say the majority, of zutarians have already come to terms with the fact that the chances of a Cannon Zutara are slim. Most of us have our own views on WHY the ship should occour but, we also were not a part of the designe prosess and brainstorming sessions. Most of us have resigned ourselves to the notion that Zutara is fannon and not likely to become anything more.
I admit there are a number of Zutarians who are younger and are far more immature about the whole situation. Infact some of the older and more knowlagable shippers can have their meltdown moments, but NEVER EVER think because somthing is Cannon, it will destroy our or anyones imaginings... in fact it just might make us stronger.
(please excuse my spelling mistakes, I am not at my most alert at the moment)

Great work. I was surprised to see lighting cues there, indicating the moon as a light source. I've never seen story boards for any show with dramatic lighting...is this a common practice on shows like Avatar?

I don't mind Maiko; I just wish that it would be presented as less...um...teen angst. I mean, "You're so beautiful when you hate the world"? I cringed at how high school that was. My two 100 Yen coins.

As a side note, I can never get over how Mai's name is pronounced on the show. It is a travesty that the Japanese student in me shall never forgive.

And besides, MercuryRhapsody was right: the way Maiko has developed (or HASN'T) makes me believe that it's not going to last. Regardless, of the comic in the Avatar Magazine, or that they probably dated before Zuko was banished, Zuko is a different person now, who needs something more than hot maikouts (haha, bad pun) to keep him happy. Which it's pretty clear that he's not. I have a feeling that pretty soon 
Sorry for the long winded shipping/theory rant. It probably sounds like nonsense to you anyway... I'll just shut up now.

That relationship was so out of left field. Seriously. It makes me think that it won't last, just because of the way it was presented. If it was REALLY serious, wouldn't there have been a "Mai and Zuko rediscover their love for each other scene"? At least, that's what I think should have happened . I might be wrong... But, it would be really exciting if I was right.
Maybe I'm just being silly and over-analyzing.

Well, remember that this is a few weeks later....I think they did a good job with this scene, very girlfriend-y....they did give warning in Zuko Alone and Return to Omashu that Mai liked Zuko, so it's not COMPLETELY out of left field....and it's possible that they may go through a break-up phase (I definitely think we'll see that coming) and possibly reunion phase....if you go through the same get-together stuff twice, it might be repetitive or not very sensible....their relationship sits on the edge of a knife at the moment.
But I say "never give up without a fight."
Theirs has the potential to be the second-most epic relationship in the show (short only to Kataang). It's all in what happens....*crosses fingers*

I still don't think it's been developed well enough. The magazine is only a supplement, because not everyone can get one. Yeah, the magazine gives some explanation as to what happened, but in television you need to not depend on your audience buying and reading it. <---- Awkwardly phrased sentence. I was trying to avoid repeating the word magazine. XD
So, you don't want to suddenly push someone into an insta-relationship in the beginning of the show, especially someone like Zuko who was SO adverse to that relationship with that girl in Ba Sing Se whose name I can't remember because I am stupid. You need the character development of Zuko and Mai getting together, and you don't get that with this whole deal. Yeah, maybe they'll develop separately, or the relationship will get better/more real later, but I'm still feeling like something is wrong with it. It seems kind of like middle school, where people date for two weeks for shallow reasons.

Ah, but remember that they've known each other, and the audience knows it--it's realistic. Weeks have passed, things have changed....

All the events that took place during Aang's coma are talked about, including how Zuko and Mai got back together. But I shall say nothing else :B

I tried to buy nickmag, but then it wasn't anywhere, which was weird. Then, when I finally found one, it was something about the Naked Brothers Band or whatever. It was a sad, sad day.
