Description
Scytodes longipes
family: Scytodidae
Scytodes are an incredibly unique family of spiders in which they developed silk glands in their prosoma (head, carapace). these glands are mixed with their venom glands. When a muscle is contracted, they shoot venom coated silk at their prey in a zigzag pattern which contracts and disables the meal. They truly are fascinating creatures and I love having them around. they have absolutely earned the name "spitting spiders"
