Looked at your gallery. Nice work~
I've found environments to be a lot different than doing any character illustrations.
With environments, you have to focus on atmosphere, perspective and the placement of objects. However, when doing character illustrations it's all about getting the proportions, form and rendering correct.
The best way to work is to build up the whole picture at once, definitely leave the details to the end, and make sure you get the atmosphere, perspective and values right first.
