To be honest, it didn't go much better for charmy in the original run, hell it was probably worse since they had to make something happen that then turned him annoying we were made to begrudgingly accept rather than keep him a likable character.

Ok I don't read the comics so I have no idea what happened to Charmy. I can tell by this reaction it's bad though. Still it's nice to see that Vector does care about Charmy's well being. Also love how Espio is kind of just standing there as all of this goes down.

Tails's data for the cure is gone, Eggman was too dumb to make a vaccine, and Sonic's speed counteracting his infection is no longer working...

Tails' is really smart though so he might be able to redo the data for the cure.

We later find out that as the Metal Virus continues to mutate, those infected by it will eventually suffer a state of apoptosis. Autotrophic cells will endure slightly longer, but not for much longer. In scientific terms, the Zombots will eventually disintegrate. And apparently, this won't happen for the next two hundred years... which is why Silver's future is in that state of destruction.
- It turns out the reasons for Eggman's Suicidal Overconfidence with the virus and working on a cure were A) because everything was going to be dead eventually anyway, and B) because he was intending to evacuate to another planet once he was done infecting this one. That's right; the good doctor deemed that it would be more practical for him to just abandon the planet he's spent years trying to conquer than sit around trying to manage his wayward creation.

Oh great. The one virus mutates which makes a cure close to impossible and the other virus will die sooner or later, it'll just take 200 years for that that to happen. Great. Just great. Though Eggman's plan doesn't make any sense. He's spent years at this point trying to take over the planet. Where in the world did he get the idea to just infect it and leave? That doesn't sound like him. And I know he's done some stupid stuff in the past but this seriously doesn't sound like something he would do.
