June image for our Four the Win 2011 paper cut-out styled calendar, which sold out in January. This image features my mascot fatty dolphin Finni using a turtle to try and race some real dolphins. Of course, ~zimmay had to give this image some hilarious, very politically incorrect nicknames.More on my tumblr! [link]

I bet your calendar was a huge hit! I've always loved your mascot! Still wish it had become an RO hat XD; I would have worn my Finni hat with pride!
Anyway, this is really detailed despite the flat style, it looks so professional and like a real collage as opposed to something made digitally. I want to cuddle that turtle D:

The figures were drawn in Illustrator to get that really clean crisp feel, then a dropshadow was added. On top, it's just a simple papery texture and you're done! (: The hardest part is really just getting the figures drawn really clean and crisp, using simple shapes.

Thanks again! I'll definitely look more into Illustrator. I just recently bought Adobe CS5 (Design Premiere, I should have just gotten Design Standard) so I'll be exploring the program.

Aww I try to respond as best as I can! Illustrator tends to be very frustrating to work with for people who've only used Photoshop for painting, but if you give it time, it's really one of my absolute favorite programs ever.
(tip: if you get stuck or frustrated, you can use ctrl (or alt on a Mac) + y to see just your path outlines!)
