Thank you so much for this! It's really helpful, and I only wish I'd had this a few weeks ago when I did a dapple for my AP Art class. xD I was working off a picture, which helped with the knowing where to put what parts, but I've never thought of using a tortillon with a pencil drawing. Thank you! I'm sure I'll be doing plenty of dapples in the future!

You have such an amazing drawing talent it's unbelievable. And this tutorial is wonderful. It helped alot. Too bad I don't have a talent for shading. XD I love to draw horses, but I can't seem to shade. XP
Anyway, I absolutely love how you shaded the horse's face. You really know how to make it come to life.

Can this dappling technique be used with other colors or would you suggest a different dapple pattern? [like for palominos, buckskins, etc,]
