I definitely agree that the basic plotline of "Very Merry Christmas" worked SO much better in the recent movie, especially since it was worked around in a way that made its point about the franchise as a whole trying to prove itself relevent to today's audience. And I especially hated how out of character Kermit was in this special. I know for a fact that yes, he HAS flipped his lid many a time, but that was only out of disgruntlement, NOT from having his spirit broken in the most inhumane fashion! He handled losing the studio AND the Muppet name itself MUCH better in the movie, Jim himself probably would've had Kermit swallow his pride and say "fine, we'll start all over again because we're a family, no matter what" too like he did here rather than grimmly mutter to himself "I failed everyone, it's my own damn fault..."

I'm sure the Henson Company will never make a mistake like that ever again.

Especially since as of 2004, 2 years AFTER "Very Merry Christmas", the Muppets were bought by none other than the Walt Disney Company from the Henson Company.
