My first assignment from my sci-fi class with the great Donato Giancola. This class is crazy awesome. We had to take an ordinary event and turn it Sci-Fi. I've never drawn robots or anything like this, so it was interesting to say the least. lol
I wanted to reflect a feeling more than anything...well anyway, hope you like it!

Donato teaches a Sci-fi Illustration class at The School of Visual Arts, but he just put out a new instructional CD of his oil painting process! You should check it out: [link] His technique is pretty unique, and watching him paint in real life is a feeling I can't really explain. Truly an inspiring man!

Anyways. This is such an awesome piece, I really love the way the light is brought out, it really gives the robot a metallic feel. The attention to detail is lovely, and the texture looks great.
