After the Shade, where the dark king Aedraxis summoned forth evil and was consumed by it, the survivors fled to the largest city left to them - Port Scion. Driven by necessity, both the god-serving Guardians and the techomage Defiants worked together under the good king Zareph to protect their people. But it was too good to last. Tempted by power, Alsbeth, a Guardian Ascended, betrayed them all. She sabotaged the city's defenses, letting the evil of Regulos billow forth into the city. Only by sacrificing himself to seal the evil within the city was King Zareph able to save his people by dooming himself.
