Leave your questions in the comments below!,About the ArtistFor more than 10 years, JoEllen Elam (aka @Firefly-Path) has brought garment fantasies to life. Combining fashion and fairytales, she designs pieces that reflect her clients' dreams. In the past few years, her company Firefly Path has branched out to offering sewing patterns and fragrances for the fantasy community.Crate Details"Every spring I'm inspired by the first trees to blossom on my street — the Japanese Magnolia!" shares JoEllen. "I thought if the spring goddess Ostara could make a dress, she'd use the branches from blossoming trees." In order to create a project that was easier for beginners to create, she used an existing strapless bra to build upon.Though she included a materials list and links to purchase within the written tutorial, those are merely suggestions and other faux flowers, branches, and materials can be used. “The only items you can't change are the floral tape, 30 gauge floral wire, E6000 glue, and the strapless bra,” JoEllen confirms. She does advise that if you choose a different fabric for the skirt to make sure it’s one that doesn’t fray, such as spandex. Singeing the edges of polyester, nylon, or acrylic fabrics is also an option. The gown should take the average sewer/crafter 11-15 hours to create. In addition to the written tutorial, JoEllen also included a time-lapse video of her construction of the “Ostara” dress. "I think it's helpful to see the process happen! I'm very much a visual learner, something I find a lot of other artists and I share in common," she concludes.Additional credits:Model: Emily O'Dette (https://www.instagram.com/esodette/)Elf Ears: Madhouse FX Studio (https://www.instagram.com/madhousefxstudio/)Fairy Wings: Hello Faerie (https://www.instagram.com/hellofaerie/)Check out the February Creative Crate!
