One of the projects we are currently working on is a wlop Β Β inspired outfit! I can't decide if I want the cape to come from the necklace or the scale mail π€ Some of his original illustrations have it coming directly from under the scale mail. Which would you choose?Back View -Β

I like it best coming out from under the scale mail; I like the flow of the design better with the slim chains connecting the necklace and the scale mail.

This is stunningly gorgeous with its contrast of light and dark, elegant and fierce, definitely an eye catcher. I would recommend the cape coming from the arms versus the collar. I love the detailing with the chain links from the collar to the scaled shoulder armor and it would probably have a higher range of mobility than if it was connected to the collar. Can't wait to see what's next in your projects of costumes and clothing.

I like it better coming from the scale mail, the other way it obscures the scale mail and makes it look irrelevant. Gorgeous either way, though!

I think from the scale mail looks best. I think the embellishment with the gold chains looks more visually appealing against the skin than a swathe of black cloth. It breaks up the intricacy of the scrollwork(?) with some simple curved lines.

I seem to be the only one to spot how similar the outfit is to the Thavnairian Bustier and Headdress craftable in Final Fantasy XIV (14) whoever inspired you possibly had some influence from there. Really nice though π

I would say have the cape come from the scale mail, I just think with it coming from the neck the epaulets seem they just float on the shoulders and the cape looks like you need to pry it open with the wearer's arms. Still looks great ether way

Imagine someone stepping on the cape, either you get a strong pull on the shoulders ... or your neck, which one would you chose? Function beats aesthetics - well, that sort of cape does not have much of a function, but we don't have to make matters worse.

I know the piece is inspired so it wouldn't be the same, but I would say to do it from the chain mail just because you can add more decorative chaining like in some of these works:

Personally, i would choose the right version, where it is tied to the necklace. Because at least from this angle, it makes the person somewhat more elegant than the left version. Maybe you could add some of the chains to the right version. The chains seem always present and a part of the scale mail, whereas the cape seem to be optional.

Looks good, but honest here, I think the best way to see it is if it were on a person. At least for me. I love the details on the gold parts.
