Description So I've been fascinated with Dicraeosaurids lately, and the fact that they represent a branch of Sauropoda that was meant to take the niche of Iguanodontians/Hadrosaurids, at least guessing from their incredible morphology. Here I drew an especially radical member of the group, Brachytrachelopan mesai. With a incredible short neck for a sauropod, it's thought that these animals would have fed in the way that the other groups mentioned did. Sadly, by the end of the Cretaceous, Dicraeosaurids had been out-competed by Iguanodontians/Hadrosaurids throughout their [native Gondwanan] range. When drawing this fellow I couldn't help but chuckle at their very deep body, IDK why it was that way.
