Mercury, actually, but it had crossed my mind to do Icarus, too. I just didn't like how he dies at the end....
You're so totally right about the shading, but every time I try to do that, it comes out all ridiculous....*rubs at eye* I hate to think I just don't have the talent because my heart is in the right place. I just can't seem to work lately...I only stopped work on this one because if I had kept at it for fifteen more minutes I'd have hurled the machine across the room and thrown the tablet and sketch board to join it a second later. I have no idea what's wrong with me. I felt like scratching my eyes out.
How does one DO shading such as you do? I'd love to know, rather than wanting to cut my hands off at the wrist for the past two weeks.

Of course you have the talent! If you don't believe me, take a look at the first things in my gallery... Even I have improved somewhat
I think you did a great job. Notice how it gives him some depth?
Well, first of all I'd advise you to go watch DP Pay attention to how Danny is shaded. Take a look at screencaps. You'll notice that the shading is mostly a line, and that it continues over his whole body, if that makes any sense... I mean that the shading of the collar and the arms keep running parallel in a way...
Now, for the technical part. Keep in mind that I'm a photoshop person ^_^ I don't know any other programs... I'll explain in as good as I can here, but I'd be happy to make a little tutorial if that'd help you
So, you have your lineart. New layer under it. Take that wand thingy and select, let's say the supposed to be black parts of his suit. Expand the selection if neccesairy. Fill it with the grey you're gonna use in the shading. Now I take the pen thingy. I go around the areas I want to be black (a big part... Sometimes you'll need to do this in more steps), close the paths and fill with black. Deselect, and you'll have it!
Now, it would be easier to first fill with black, and then do the shading with grey using the pen tool. I used to do it like that, but I had to fiddle around with layers to much since the wand tool had problems with selecting the black of the fill vs the black of the lining sometimes... See how it works out for you.
I hope this helped. If it did, and if you ever feel like needing help, please don't hesitate to ask!

Are you in the market for a minion? I hear the minions get cool uniforms.
